2014 Tryout Information

Tryouts will be conducted over three days (18 holes each day). 

Wednesday, August 13th @ Weibring Golf Club, 12:00 players meeting and 1:00 tee time
Thursday, August 14th @ Weibring Golf Club, 1:00 tee time
Friday, August 15th, @ Crestwicke Country Club, 10:00 tee time

The number of cuts made will be determined by the coaches and may take place after any of the three rounds.

Attached is a link to the entry for the Bloomington-Normal Junior City to be played August 4-5.  Please share with your teams and encourage participation.

New for this year is a Pre-Season Team Championship.  In addition to the individual city junior champions we will crown one team champion.  We will count the best four scores from each school.   

 

I spoke with the IHSA and as long as it is an informal competition and everyone understands coaches may not coach – the event is all good.  The dates of the tournament (Aug 4-5) fall outside of the permissible contact dates so coaching is not permitted.  We will present one “bragging rights” trophy to the winning team.

I have been considering ways to increase participation and I am hoping by having a pre-season team element it might be helpful.

I am including coaches that are in neighboring communities as well.  Juniors are eligible to play if they have a pass to a BN golf course or if one of their parents is employed in Bloomington-Normal.  Please feel free to share with others that I may have missed!

No Summer Practice this Week

There will not be summer practice this Monday & Wednesday due to COUNTRY Youth Classic.  Practice will resume on Monday June 30th.

Summer Practice

Summer practice for current players and players interested in trying out for the team will start on June 9th and go through the end of July.

Prospective Student Open House - February 12th

Open House for students interested in attending U-High for the 2014-2015 school year has been postponed unitl Wednesday, February 12th from 5:30 to 8:30.  We have a table set up in the gym so stop by and get to know the Boys Golf program.  Coach York and members of the team will be available to talk and answer any questions you might have.  Hope to see you there!  Go U!
